Make A Wallet With A Rose Design

I will use a piece of veg tanned tooling leather for the wallet back. You can carve designs on veg tanned leather. I have punched the holes for the lacing.

I wet the leather, this is called casing the leather, so the design will go onto the leather. I put a plastic template holding my design on the wallet back and rub with a modeling spoon to get the impression of the design on the leather.

I carve the design using a swivel knife.

The next step is to bevel and shade the design. Here the design has been beveled on the left.

Here the design has been beveled and shaded and ready to be painted or dyed.

Here the design has been dyed and the finish has been applied. The lining is made and the next step is to lace the lining and wallet back together. After that the wallet is done and ready for use.
